Cannery Family Session {} San Francisco, Ca

Family Photographer {San Francisco, Ca}

Though I can’t say we go way back or anything, this mama and I have been through the most powerful and intense experience of my life together. That is why I am honored and excited to share this shoot with you. While she was 5 months pregnant with her son, she was Kim and my birth doula. I was thrilled to have her on our birth team and gained the confidence I needed at the time to embark on the much anticipated labor and delivery journey. She was new at being a doula but not ill prepared or lacking in the necessary skills. She knew what I didn’t even know I wanted at each turn in my labor. She was a pivotal part of our birth team, as much for me as for Kim and my family in attendance. She helped us navigate the hospital protocols and translate between us when emotions were high and decisions important. So when Kim and I were thinking about a thank you gift, no robe or nice dinner out felt appropriate. About to give birth to her third child I decided it would be fun to gift a family photography date so they could preserve in photos this moment in their lives. It was wonderful to see Mama ‘L’ and her beautiful family of 5 as we headed down to the Cannery building and waterfront. Thank you ‘L’ for being an important part of our journey to parenthood and I look forward to our paths crossing again in the future!

Childhood Friend Family Session {} Marin, California

Family Photographer {Marin County, Ca}

This is a fun shoot for me to write about since I’ve known mama ‘V’ since 2nd grade and we just reunited in the last year. It turns out she and her husband are both photographers and have a beautiful little girl. Kim and I asked them to shoot our maternity session last Fall out in West Marin for a trade and now I finally got to return the favor for their sweet family 8 months later. Little ‘R’ is the smartest and funniest little girl I’ve known. She is super imaginative and comes up with the best lines, opinions and observations ever. Remember Mr. T from the 80′s? She was obsessed with him for months… Love it.

Family Photographer {San Francisco, Ca}

Welcome to the world little ‘C’! As this sweet girl is our good friends’ first baby, I feel like I have been waiting forever to meet her! Mama ‘T’ and I met over many a froyo during her pregnancy and talked all things nursery, baby gear, and future plans for our girls to play. These parents are taking to parenthood like naturals and it’s so wonderful to watch. I am excited to present baby ‘C”s first photo shoot! So much love and cuteness here! Those beautiful little lips!!! Enjoy!

Mama in Waiting {} Maternity Session, Oakland

Family Photographer {Marin County, Ca}

One of my favorite people, this Mama and I go back a ways. We even mothered a kitten together until we moved our separate ways. Now she is having her first baby and I am a proud auntie-to-be! Our girls will be 9 months apart and hopefully as close as we are but no pressure… okay maybe a little pressure {smiley face}.  I usually post a series of images but this one just sums it up. Happy. Beautiful. Mama.

What a bunch of wonderful men this mom has! We set out to capture the 3 generations of her men for her birthday and ended up with these fun images showing off their humorous and casual personalities. I can tell they goof off a lot together and it’s very sweet to see from behind the lens. Thanks for the amazing shoot R Family!

Orangutan Connection {} Personal Travels

© Photo Designs by Odessa - Singapore Zoo Orangutans, Mama and Baby

I’ve never been one for zoos as they generally make me feel sorry for the animals and I don’t like to support the caging of creatures but this world renowned zoo was something I didn’t want to miss. I realized during this visit that the zoo really does teach adults and children about animals, their habitats and the power we have to both destroy all the rain forests but also to preserve them.

Emerald Hill, Singapore {} Personal Travels

blogthumb

Just a quick update for this little outing we did earlier in the week. What struck me about Emerald Hill was the small scale of the old quaint buildings compared to the huge malls and high rises around. It really was a little gem in the middle of an otherwise central area of shopping, metro stops and traffic. The colors were beautiful. I only had the iPhone camera this time but I hope to go back with the DSLR and have some fun with the colors and textures.

Marina Bay Gardens, Singapore {} Personal Travels

thumb

Yesterday a new friend (yay a new friend!), her 14 month old son, Lulu and I set out to find our way downtown to Marina Bay Gardens for a walk.  It probably wasn’t the best day to go on this particular walk as it was a scorcher. The sun blared in the bright blue sky and I swear I have never been as hot as I was walking through these gardens. Enough complaining. The gardens were crazy interesting and very manmade. They were on the water side of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the three towers with a boat on top pictured below. In the gardens there were huge tree like structures, called Supertree Grove
